To some, a picture is worth a thousand words. If this were true, poorly designed and developed graphics would only be worth about two cent. The quality of a graphic is important when used for Web-based instruction. The detail contained in graphics could make a differences in students' learning and understanding. Graham (1999) suggested that images could help create a mood, establish a visual style, and convey complex information.
There are many graphic formats used on the Web. Although different graphics formats can produce different graphic qualities, there are advantages to having access to various formats.
